Hello! My name is Ann Toney and I chose Bitstrip for my Web 2.0 to share with the class wiki. Bitstrip is a site where you can make comics. There are lessons and ideas already on Bitstrip or you can create your own.
You sign up for Bitstrip they have a free trial or you sing up 40 students for $10 a month.
You create your own Avatar (leave a lot of time for this they have much to choose from)

I chose Bitstrips because: 1. I feel it gives students a chance to express themselves in a different way. 2. I believe for some students who have trouble talking in front of people this is a good way to express yourself and get your point across. 3. It is great for diverse learners. We have students with CP in my class and this is a great way to share their sense of humor. Because they have a hard time speaking fluently people seem to overlook their humor when they are really funny. It also is much easier for them to type and use the mouse. I think creating comics and avatars puts them on more level ground then having to create or draw with their shaking hands.
From the teachers point of view 1. It gives the students a way to communicate with your supervision. The students can share their comics but they have to pass through you first. 2. It gives the teacher an insight of what students are interested in through their choice of props. 3. It gives the teacher an insight to each students sense of humor that you may not have tapped into. 4. I will be using this in my classroom. I really like the bulling activities. I feel kids need a way to tell what is going on without telling what is going on. 5. I also think it is a good way for students who are bullies to open up their eyes and find out why they are bullies.
